Personal Statement

I am a bilingual, registered psychotherapist speaking English and Korean. As I am an immigrant counsellor, I have been living in diverse cultures in the K-W area since 2000. Also, I have travelled to different countries to understand their cultures and lifestyles.

I have worked with a Christian organization since 2000 and I have been an ordained pastor since 2004. I have worked with churches and I have diverse ministry experience in urban ministry. I have worked with lonely people, aboriginal people, university students, and counselling diverse people in counselees’ centres.

I have trained as a spiritual care and psychotherapy counsellor using narrative, emotionally focused, cognitive behaviour, anger management techniques and solution focused therapies from a holistic approach.

In our life journey, we encounter many different challenges which might be tough or light when we don’t expect them, but it is hard for us anyways. On the other hand, all humans have different uniqueness with resilience and recovery capacity from their encounters because I believe that a human being is physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually interconnected to live, grow, change, heal and to be a well-being. It is a wonderful privilege for me as a therapist to walk alongside with those who seek to find balance in their challenged lives, support them to find their new solutions and to empower them to begin their new life journey.
